Why TF does #Ubuntu not automatically switch to dark mode when it's night time? Like, it's 2025 FFS.

When did people start substituting putting the phone to their ear in favour of being on loudspeaker in public?

Fucking idiots.

Flying to Chicago (via Dublin) at 8am tomorrow morning. That means I'll be up at 04:30. On a Sunday. Brilliant.

When I used an #iPhone Siri was good enough for my use case - set a timer, what's 65f in c, remind me to do xyz at 10am on Monday.

On the other hand, #Gemini is absolute dog shit. Reminders don't work properly, timers are hit and miss, and answers to simple questions are ridiculously verbose. It's just shite. 💩

The New Recruit (Liam Scott 01)

The first book in Andy McNab's Liam Scott series about a teenager who signs up for the British Army and deploys to Afghanistan.

Trying #Beeper after reading about it on @mike blog. It works well and it's handy not having 3 messaging apps, but it's gonna take some getting used to.

Brilliant. Thanks #PiHole. 🤦🏼‍♂️

How Do You Take Notes?

I need a better way of organising my notes, to-dos and tasks. I have crap all over the place at the moment, so if you have a system, I'd love to know what it is.

A Month of Running

I haven’t run regularly in over 10 years. I’ve tried multiple times to get back into it, but it’s always fizzled out. This time feels different.

It's not just me, this potato looks like Admiral Ackbar, right?

Fedi #hivemind, I need you.

I use OneNote in work. It's shit, but it's all I have. I need a better way of managing my notes and particularly my to do list. The latter is really the most important. Ideally it has an option to set "next action" so I know what's due on any given day.

I can't install anything on my work laptop, so I intend to run it on my personal Ubuntu machine, for both work and home.

Any recommendations?

Lots of butthurt people responding to my wrist phone post (lots of good dialogue too BTW).

Remember folks, opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one. 🙃

I Don't See the Point of Smartwatches

Yes, I love traditional watches. Guilty as charged. But even if I didn’t, I’d still think smartwatches are one of the dumbest tech trends out there.

Upped the distance on my runs today from 2.5km to 3.25km. Did it in 19:05, which would equate to a 29 min 5km. Happy with that.

Although temping, I'm not gonna go further than that for a few more weeks. 🏃🏼‍♂️💨

A New Lick of Paint

So I've been playing around with a new design for this site for a couple of weeks now, and it's finally to the point where I think it's good to go live.

My Sony buds have finally bit the dust after repairing them last year.

I took the Pixel Bud A's out of the cupboard that I got free with my 9a. Garbage. No ANC and v.poor sound quality.

Looks like I'm on the hunt for a new pair of buds. 🙁

The Singularity Trap

Another great sci-fi book form Dennis E Taylor. Really enjoyed this one.
