Today was spent goat-proofing the automatic chicken door. We recently moved it to ground level and now the goats use it as a scratch post. 🐐
It's a beautiful morning here in North Wales. My wife has taken our youngest to his cricket match, and our oldest is upstairs playing with his Lego out of the heat.
Me? I'm sitting in the sunroom, listening to the goats and chickens, with a coffee and book.
Perfect Sunday morning.
A Rant About Modern Cars
I recently bought a new Peugeot and the experience of getting setup on their online platform has been painful to say the least.
I have just eaten a GIANT bowl of granola, fresh fruit, Greek yoghurt, and home grown honey (by one of our neighbours). I have zero regrets, but I may skip lunch today. 🤣
Guinea fowl keets are doing great too. All 5 are loving life with their foster mums.
We now have 3 chicks - two white and one black.
First two chicks!
Two of the eggs are starting to hatch and we can hear multiple chicks cheeping away. Exciting! 🐣
Our 2 hens have finished sitting on the Guinea fowl eggs - out of 10, we managed to hatch 5 of them.
The chicken eggs we have in the incubator won't be ready for another week or so. Excited to see how many of them we get.
You know what isn't fun? Living in a 200 year old stone house, with no insulation, during a heatwave.
There's collapsed animals (not literally) and fans all over the place. 🥵️
The fox continues to prowl around our chickens. This morning we caught it in the GARDEN a few feet from our favourite chicken. Luckily the magpies warned us and we were able to scare it away.
It's not nice keeping the little cluckers cooped up in this heat, but needs must unfortunately.

Proud Dad Moment
I had a real proud dad moment yesterday at my kids' sports day.
So you know how we have the incubator setup? Well, unbeknownst to me, my wife gave one of our broody hens a cluch of Guinea fowl eggs to sit on a month ago.
She just sent me this...
We have the incubator setup incubating a dozen eggs, including the last 2 our hen that was caught by the fox layed.
Expect regular updates. 🐣
Like we don't have enough animals already. This little black blob will be joining us on August.
Can someone who's more green fingered than me tell me is this is giant hogweed please?
It's all over one of our fields, so if it is I'll need to get someone in to get rid of it.
I can think of worse places to walk the dogs...
