Watches

I'm selling a number of my watches. If you're interested, you can see the list of what's available here.

I have a love for many different types of watches. My collection tends to hover at around 50 watches I've reduced my collection dramatically, and thought I'd list them out here. As I buy and sell watches, I'll try to keep this page updated.

Here's a rough guide on what the star ratings for all these watches mean:

β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜† (1 star) - A bad watch, I should probably sell it
β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜† (2 stars) - It's okay, but I don't wear it often
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars) - It's a good watch that I wear regularly
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars) - A great watch that I wear often
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars) - Pretty much the perfect watch

For reference, I have a 7.25" (18.4cm) wrist.

Casio A1000

Casio A1000

Case size: 38mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£100 ($127)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

This is a slightly more upmarket version of the A700. With a metal case and higher quality strap, albeit a bit of a hair puller. It’s a nice watch, especially with the copper border around the edge, but I think it’s a little overpriced for what it is. Also, for Β£100, I’d expect to see more than 30m of water resistance.

Casio A168 Custom

Casio A168 Custom

Case size: 34mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£100
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

The Casio A168 is a great watch, but it’s made even more great by upgrading the bezel, case and glass to a full metal/sapphire jobby from (link: https://www.skxmod.com/ text: SKXMOD). I also have it on a custom rubber strap. It’s a lovely piece.

Casio AE-1200 Custom

Casio AE-1200 Custom

Case size: 42mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£35 ($45)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

The AE-1200 (AKA the Royale) is a fantastic watch with a TONNE of features, all for Β£35. It also has 100m of water resistance and a really good backlight. The only reason I haven’t given this 5 stars is because I personally think it has too much going on with the screen. I have an SKXMOD metal case and sapphire crystal on this watch. Coupled with the aftermarket red strap, I think it looks great.

Casio MRW-200H

Casio MRW-200H

Case size: 44mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Diver
Price: Β£23.50 ($30)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

I absolutely love the MRW-200H. The white dial with black numerals and hands just works so well; I love the really high contrast. Although it’s 44mm, it doesn’t feel (or wear) like one. And being resin, it’s really light. Great watch for such a small amount of money.

Casio MTP-V005L

Casio MTP-V005L

Case size: 40mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Dress
Price: Β£30 ($38)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

This is one of 2 dress watches in my collection. It’s slim and looks WAY more expensive than it actually is with the beautiful sunburst effect on the dial. If I’m ever putting on a suit, I’ll usually be wearing this or my PRX. I have it on an aftermarket brown leather strap.

G-SHOCK πŸ‘†πŸ»

G-SHOCK G-9000

G-SHOCK G-9000

Case size: 46.3mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 200m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£80 ($100)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

The β€œMudman” is probably my favourite watch in the collection. It think it’s beautiful in its ruggedness and it fits my wrist perfectly. I love this one and I wear it all the time.

G-SHOCK GA-2100MNG-2AER

G-SHOCK GA-2100MNG-2AER

Case size: 45.4mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 200m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Analogue
Price: Β£135 ($171)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

I already have a GA-2100 in my collection, but when I saw this limited edition one, I thought it was really cool and had to have it. It would have got 4 stars if it didn’t have the negative LCD display, but hey, you can’t have everything. πŸ™ƒ

G-SHOCK GW-M5610U

G-SHOCK GW-M5610U

Case size: 43.2mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 200m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£135 ($172)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

Probably the most versatile G-SHOCK in existence. The GW-M5610U takes the DW-5600 and makes it’s better. With solar power and automatic time setting, this thing is brilliant. I use it to set the time on all my other watches.

Seiko πŸ‘†πŸ»

Seiko SBSC009

Seiko SBSC009

Case size: 39mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: GMT
Price: Β£366
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

I do a lot of traveling with my job, so I wanted a GMT so I can tell what time it is at home. I’ve always loved the Rolex Polar Explorer, and this Seiko looks VERY similar for a fraction of the price. It’s absolutely stunning and 39mm is the perfect size for my wrist.

Seiko SNK805K2

Seiko SNK805K2

Case size: 37mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£140 ($178)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

This is a fantastic little field watch that I wear all the time. I do like smaller watches, so being 37mm works really well. I don’t think it looks too small on my wrist, either. These are cheap automatics, but the Seiko 5 series are really well built.

Seiko SRPD71K1

Seiko SRPD71K1

Case size: 42mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 22mm
Category: Diver
Price: Β£300 ($382)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

When I first saw this watch, I knew I had to have it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I love the deep blue of the face, coupled with the off-white of the applied numerals and hands. This is the watch that garners the most comments from people, especially on the aftermarket suede strap.

Seiko SSB403P1

Seiko SSB403P1

Case size: 41mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Chronograph
Price: Β£209 ($266)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

My only quartz Seiko, and the only chronograph in my collection too. There’s a lot going on with the design of this watch, which can make it hard to read. I love the NATO strap this thing comes on though.

Tissot πŸ‘†πŸ»

Tissot PRX 80

Tissot PRX 80

Case size: 40mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 12mm
Category: Analogue
Price: Β£610 ($777)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

This is the most expensive watch in my collection, and it really shows. I love the vintage look and the waffle effect on the dial. The brushed strap is a thing of pure beauty too. Only reason I’ve given this 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the custom straps you need for it. I bought the blue leather Tissot strap for this and it cost me nearly Β£50!

Tissot Quickster

Tissot Quickster

Case size: 40mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 22mm
Category: Sports
Price: Β£240 ($305)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

This watch is probably the best looking watch I have in my collection (specifically, this is model number T0954101703701). I love the blue on the dial and bezel, as well as the pearlescent effect on the face. It’s swiss made, has a sapphire crystal, and will probably last me forever. I love this thing.

Tissot Seastar Blue TV

Tissot Seastar Blue TV

Case size: 37mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: None
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Analogue
Price: Β£399 ($540)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

This 1972 Tissot Seastar β€œBlue TV” was a birthday present to myself, and it’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s such a unique design, and still going strong after more that 50 years of loyal service.

Baltany S182025B

Baltany S182025B

Case size: 36mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£146 ($186)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

It’s a close call between this watch and the MudMan as my favourite watch in my collection. It’s a twist on the Dirty Dozen watches of the Second World War. I love everything about this watch - the dial, the case, the size, the hands. It’s just beautiful. I have this on an aftermarket leather strap, which I think sets off the watch perfectly.

Berny 2694M-B

Berny 2694M-B

Case size: 38mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Dress
Price: Β£31 ($38)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

The second dress watch in my collection, this is a cheap little quartz that looks way more expensive than it actually is. Especially on the gorgeous after-market grey strap.

CWC G10

CWC G10

Case size: 38mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 50m
Strap size: 19mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£300 ($382)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

The CWC G10 is a true field watch in every sense of the word. This particular watch is very special to my heart, as it’s the watch I was issued in the British Army, back in 2005. So this watch is nearly 20 years old, it survived both Iraq and Afghanistan and is still going strong. I absolutely adore this watch.

Citizen AW5005-12X

Citizen AW5005-12X

Case size: 43mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£140 ($178)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† (3 stars)

I received this as a Christmas gift from my kids last year. It’s a really nice looking watch and the EcoDrive is solar powered, so should never need a new battery. It would have got 4 stars, but because the watch face is 43mm, it makes the 20mm strap look a bit…pathetic.

Fossil Twist ME1084

Fossil Twist ME1084

Case size: 42mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 50m
Strap size: 22mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£80
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

I’ve bought this watch around 2010. People bash Fossil, but I think this is a beautiful watch and with the hybrid β€œmechanical quartz” movement, it’s needed zero maintenance in that time, not even a battery replacement. The black leather bund strap is really cool too.

Seagull 1963 Bronze

Seagull 1963 Bronze

Case size: 40mm
Movement: Mechanical
Water resist: 50m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Chronograph
Price: Β£160 ($195)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

This old school military chronograph is gorgeous. I especially like the bronze case and the patina it has developed. Unfortunately it’s manual wind, not automatic. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Selten Salvage Bronze

Selten Salvage Bronze

Case size: 39mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 200m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Diver
Price: Β£511
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

OMG this watch is incredible and the picture does it no justice at all. Each dial is handmade and is therefore unique. It’s sporting a Miyota 9039 8bps movement, so has a lovely sweep on the seconds hand. The bronze case finishes it off beautifully. I adore this watch.

Suunto Run

Suunto Run

Case size: 46mm
Movement: Smart
Water resist: 50m
Strap size: 22mm
Category: Digital
Price: Β£199 ($269)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

I replaced my old Garmin Forerunner with this Suunto Run as the Garmin unfortunately died. I use this watch to track my walks/runs and not much else. For that, it’s great. Because it’s only used for tracking, you’re unlikely to see this watch in my watch-log.

Timex Weekender

Timex Weekender

Case size: 38mm
Movement: Quartz
Water resist: 30m
Strap size: 20mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£50 ($63)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜† (4 stars)

I absolutely love this little watch. It’s cheap, looks great, is super clear to read and has a fantastic backlight that’s powered by pressing down the crown. I also think the blue and grey NATO this thing comes on is lovely too.

Vario 1918 Trench

Vario 1918 Trench

Case size: 37mm
Movement: Automatic
Water resist: 100m
Strap size: 18mm
Category: Field
Price: Β£312 ($400)
Rating: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜… (5 stars)

You simply can’t appreciate how gorgeous this watch is until you see it in the flesh. A modern take on the classic tranch watches of the First World War, this thing is gobsmackingly beautiful. Coupled with the really high quality bund strap, a sapphire crystal and a Myota movement, it’s great.
