Notes
Notes are my shorter posts; kinda like my own little microblog. They have their own RSS feed and are automatically syndicated to my social profiles.
I hate getting new prescription glasses - it always takes me a few days of wearing them for my eyes to adjust to being able to see properly again. 🤓
Most of the time it's motorbikes up on my lift, but every now and then weird stuff make their way on there too, like this 60 year old soil tiller...

Traffic is awful round here.

So I recently took my #Motorbike in for it's first service and while there, they gave me this absolute BEAST to take out for a few hours.
Very similar to my bike except it's 200bhp instead of 170bhp. Beautiful machine.

I need to get out with the dogs before the temperature rises from "the surface of mercury" to "the surface oft he sun".
The furballs can't handle the heat.
So I've been running #Ubuntu for the last couple days and I have to say, it's been great. Very stable and no real issues to talk of. Snaps are still a bit shit, but a couple of commands later and I have Flatpak support.
Question - does Ubuntu shit the bed entirely if you remove Snaps all together?
Um, when did the #Ubuntu image become 6GB???
The can is open and there are worms everywhere. 🤦🏼♂️🪱🪱🪱
(buds were free on an offer, I didn't really need them as my Sony ones are fine.)

It was all going so well with #Fedora until I connected my external monitor via USB C. It's absolutely will NOT stay connected. Works perfectly in Windows and MacOS, just plug an play. I'm about done with Linux, I think - I don't have time for this shit.
Continuing with #Fedora and quite enjoying it. There are still some frustrations though:
- Fingerprint reader doesn't work very well.
- Auto screen dimming is horrendous - there's no smooth transitions and is very jarring (turned it off).
- LibreOffice is ugly AF. Replaced with OnlyOffice.
- I cant set a background on my login screen. It's just grey, which is a bit shit.
All small things though.
Finallyyyyyyyy 🎉🎉

When the #Wireshark wiki uses the plucky little CSS framework you created.
The kids were in holiday club yesterday and the sun was shining, so we managed to both get out on the bike for the first time in, like, 9 years?

Youngest: Muuuuuuum what's that orange man doing? (pic for reference)
Wife: There's no such thing as an "orange man." Do you mean the man in the orange trousers?
Oldest: DONALD TRUMP IS ORANGE!!
😂😂😂

This is why you shouldn't put stickers on your laptop...

Finally!

I decided to cancel my pre-order of the new @frameworkcomputer Ryzen 9 AI and instead went with the existing Ryzen 7 chip.
I'll get my new laptop a hell of a lot sooner, and according to Geekbench, it's still a BIG step up over what I have now.
Just need to decide what OS I'm gonna run now, #Linux or #Windows 🤔.

I have unsubscribed from the TL;DR newsletter today after enjoying it for many years.
Why? Because it's 90% AI bullshit and it's boring.
When your dogs follow you into the toilet and instantly regret it. 😂

In preparation for my new Framework laptop, I've been playing around with Fedora 41 on an old laptop. For the most part it works really well, but theming doesn't. I have no idea, but no Gnome Shell themes will work and the default one is horrible - everything is WAY too big on the default theme.
