RSS Feed Changes

24 Jan 2025 | ~2 minute read

You've probably seen a load of unread RSS items from my feed, sorry about that. Here's why...

I've made a couple of changes to the way that RSS works on this site. It's all very minor, but I thought it was worth mentioning since you've probably seen a load of "new" items if you subscribe to my RSS feed.

Combining notes and posts

I write both posts and notes on this site. Over time, it's become pretty much the only place I post online - both my posts and notes are syndicated to Mastodon and Bluesky automatically, but this is the source.

Anyway, I decided to roll my notes into the main RSS feed. So you will now see both notes and posts in there. Notes are depicted by a note emoji (📝) followed by the date and time the note was published.

Normal posts are the way they've always been. It's just the post's title.

But Kev, I don't want to see your stupid bloody notes in my feed!

Don't worry, dear reader, I have you covered. I have a number of feeds that I publish for different types of content on this site:

So if you want to get the old feed back, that's just posts, unsubscribe form the main feed and subscribe to the new Posts Only feed.

Again, sorry for dumping a load of "new" content into your RSS reader. Hope you understand though. ❤️
