shep this has prompted me to look at the updater though, and I think it can be improved. It is unnecessarily trying to rewrite .htaccess files inside preserved folders like /data (which aren't touched during an update anyway). If those files are read-only, it could trigger a rollback.

I'll update the logic so it ignores preserved folders and skips rewriting identical files. This will be in the next release.
