The Wild Robot Protects

Author: Peter Brown
Genre: Children's Fiction
Released: 2023
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Roz and the island animals are facing a new crisis: mysterious, toxic waters surrounding the island are poisoning the ecosystem. Roz sets out across the ocean to find the source and stop it, encountering wonders and dangers on a journey that may demand the ultimate sacrifice. The third Wild Robot book tackles environmental themes with the same accessible honesty that has made the series a family favourite.

Just finished reading this one to the kids, and like the others it was an enjoyable book. My wife read it to them about a year or so ago and she said she didn't really like it, but I personally enjoyed it.

I like how Peter Brown continues to approach problems like over-consumption, over-population and pollution in these books. It's always done in such a way that kids can understand, yet doesn't undermine the importance or gravity of the issues.

At the time of writing, this one is the final book in the series, I'm not sure if Brown is planning a 4th book. If he is, I'll definitely read it.

Now to watch the film!
